Over the last couple of days, patriotic Sinhalese have been upset about a famous person's statement regarding the state of Eelam and genocide. Then one Sri Lankan content creator made a video about it. To be honest, I kind of liked it because I've never been a fan of his, and it's what made me write a few words about the matter. First of all, genocide is a much broader concept than this. I don't think either side really grasps that, which makes the whole debate feel pretty silly. The Sinhala-Tamil conflict dates back to the 1950s. It hasn't really evolved since the '80s. As I always say, wrong political decisions and insensitive approaches escalated the unease between the two prominent communities of the country. So now what? We won the war. We claimed the victory.
