Please grow up !!!!!

 Over the last couple of days, patriotic Sinhalese have been upset about a famous person's statement regarding the state of Eelam and genocide. Then one Sri Lankan content creator made a video about it. To be honest, I kind of liked it because I've never been a fan of his, and it's what made me write a few words about the matter.

First of all, genocide is a much broader concept than this. I don't think either side really grasps that, which makes the whole debate feel pretty silly. The Sinhala-Tamil conflict dates back to the 1950s. It hasn't really evolved since the '80s. As I always say, wrong political decisions and insensitive approaches escalated the unease between the two prominent communities of the country. 

So now what? We won the war. We claimed the victory. We proudly say we beat the most dangerous terrorist group in the country. Even in the video, that content creator emphasizes this fact many, many times.

But my question is simple: if we won, why the hell are we so upset about a tiny comment made from miles away? Because we never truly won this completely. We still carry unhealed wounds. The moment some external party presses the button, we get triggered  we comment, make videos, and even TikTok reels.

So, my dear friends, did we really win this?

The actress has every right to stand by her own beliefs, and so does the other YouTube guy. Both sides are just getting views and comments out of it, and nothing will actually get resolved through this kind of hype.

Real reconciliation has to start at the ground level. Stirring things up like this won't help build genuine connections between different communities, even in 100 years.
